I don’t think I mentioned it before, but starting this past summer, I began going back to SCAD for Grad School. The goal is to get my MFA in animation in the next few years. Since I work full time, I’m only able to take one class per quarter, but that’s certainly better than no classes per quarter! This quarter I’m taking a class called Drawing in Motion which focuses on notational drawing and movement. One of our projects is to rotoscope an Eadweard Muybridge cycle, both in skeletal and form. There was an assortment of animals, and I decided on the horse. We had to come up with three different art directions for each, and then execute. These are the three art directions I chose to do for my form cycle. I ended up deciding to animate the glass horse as I felt it would be the biggest challenge, and visually, the most interesting when in motion. That’ll come in a later post!
My skeleton cycle used a variation of the ink style below, but I’m not 100% happy with it, so I plan to go back and do that one in glass as well and animate an interesting transition between the two.
You can see the finished form cycle here on the animation page: http://www.daniellepaulet.com/portfolio/animation/
